The Balanced Soul offers both Hatha and Restorative yoga.
Hatha is a slower-paced stretching-focused style of yoga with some basic breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation. Hatha classes are a good place to work on your alignment, learn relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with doing yoga while building strength and flexibility. Hatha classes provide an opportunity to stretch, unwind and release tension, providing a good counterpoint to both busy lifestyles and cardio workouts.
Flexibility and strength are some of the assets you gain through practice. Hatha Yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It helps with mindfulness and meditation and asks us to bring out attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.
Restorative yoga provides an opportunity to disconnect from the frenzy of life, allowing yourself to experience a slow pace and help prepare the mind and body for meditation and deepened awareness. Restorative yoga consists of 5 to 8 poses that are supported with props to simulate the shape and gain the benefit of the original pose while completely relaxing.
